Job Overview:
As a community outreach coordinator, you will support the Rhode Island Public Association program coordinator with grant-related community outreach efforts. This is a mostly remote position with occasional travel to community events.
The Community outreach coordinator plays a vital role in promoting public health by collaborating on the planning and executing community outreach and engagement initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities:
The position entails acting as a liaison with our partnering community organizations, actively engaging with them by participating in meetings and events, identifying opportunities for collaboration, and raising awareness about public health issues.
Other Duties
In addition, this position will assist RIPHA's Project Coordinator with assigned tasks, such as:
- Designing and disseminating health promotion materials.
- Collaborating on the planning and executing of community outreach and engagement initiatives
- Attending monthly and quarterly community meetings and identifying new ways to collaborate.
- Coordinating and developing strategies for volunteer engagement during RIPHA's conference in April 2024.
- Developing strategies to disseminate Community Profile Reports and other health promotion materials among high-risk communities.
- Facilitating community assessments, including focus groups and community discussions about specific health topics.
- Partner with and support the program coordinator by completing delegated tasks.
- Overseeing the engagement and coordination of the RIPHA ambassador program and Health Equity content evaluators.

Requirements
Performance Skills:
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· Familiarity with an Association Management System would be a plus.
· Proficient computer skills.
· Proficiency in Canva graphics
· Strong customer service skills and focus
· Superb attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
· Solid critical thinking, problem-solving and prioritization skills
· Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Experience and/or interest in public health a plus
· Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks at once and prioritize as needed.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree level in Public Health or related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in community engagement.
Certification and Licenses Preferably certified Community Health Worker.
Supervisory Responsibility Might be necessary to oversee volunteers.
Travel Requirements
Duties are primarily remote. Occasional travel to member agencies, community events, or in-state conference locations to provide support services.
Cognitive Requirements
The following cognitive requirements are necessary on a daily basis: Critical Thinking, Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. The employee must have the ability to effectively prioritize work and to move simultaneous tasks forward, to comprehend written and/or computer-generated materials and analyze information.
Language Requirements
Ability to read, comprehend and write correspondence; ability to communicate with vendors, RIPHA members, RIDOH staff and community members; ability to exchange information and ability to effectively present information. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
