About the role

Who We Are

UnitedMasters is building a marketplace that connects artists, brands and fans - empowering artists to earn and grow. UnitedMasters has taken the bold step of building a music distribution service that, radically, puts artists first - disrupting the legacy music business by letting up-and-coming artists distribute their music directly to fans through streaming services while maintaining ownership of their master recording rights and up to 100% of royalties. Through the combination of UnitedMasters’ music distribution platform and its deep ties to brands, UnitedMasters enables independent artists and change-makers to grow and earn unlike any other platform.

The UnitedMasters team is made up of musicians, marketers, engineers, and storytellers with backgrounds from YouTube, SoundCloud, Pandora, Facebook, Uber, Dropbox, Complex, VICE, and more. We work hand in hand with the award-winning creative teams that forge those innovative partnerships at Translation (our in-house creative advertising agency).

We are looking for a Senior Marketing Analyst to join UnitedMasters! Please note that this role is a Hybrid role: three days in office and two days remote.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Marketing Analyst, you’ll develop analytics, reporting, and insights that fuel the growth efforts of our Marketing team.  Reporting to the Director of Data Science, you’ll be directly supporting and embedded in the Platform Marketing team helping the team optimize their acquisition, retention, and brand building efforts.  This includes partnering on ongoing reporting, testing and experimentation support, campaign analysis, forecasting, and providing data-driven insights that help fuel growth and brand efforts.  You'll infuse UnitedMasters’ campaigns, surfaces and processes with signals that help us reach larger audiences, generate more buzz, drive more meaningful engagement and deliver artist outcomes.

You will:

  • Empower marketing partners.  You will collaborate with Marketing peers (Growth, LIfecycle, Product Marketing, Brand) to measure the efficacy of marketing efforts and optimize opportunities to drive reach and efficiency.
  • Deliver robust measurement.  You will measure the marginal benefit against marginal cost of our marketing or product efforts, developing attribution methodologies, guiding the setup and measuring the results of A/B, holdback, and incrementality tests, and recommending optimization strategies that scales reach and improve marketing efficiency.
  • Translate data into actionable insights.  You will provide recommendations on how to optimize our product and growth channels based on behavioral data and funnel performance.
  • Package data into brand narratives - help us prove the value of UnitedMasters products and services via data, providing metrics that can be utilized for case studies, press, beyond.
  • Guide target-setting and evaluation.  You will identify what KPIs, data, features and events will determine whether success has been achieved, where it has been achieved, and why.
  • Streamline reporting.  You will partner with Marketing teams to develop company-level dashboards, and provide ad-hoc reporting as needed.  You will extract and aggregate data across third-party tools and in-house data stores using SQL and spreadsheet magic, empowering marketing partners to reliably self-serve data and insights.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

You’re a we-first team player who loves music and is passionate about helping artists grow, earn, and thrive. You know how to tell stories with data, and you have deep experience deploying analytic methods to enhance marketing positioning.

You’ll have:

  • Analytical mindset - you have exceptional quantitative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Persistence and resilience in driving impact - you have worked through enough adversity to come away with a simultaneously deep appreciation and sensitivity towards people, culture, and values
  • Self-accountability - you are proactive, detail-oriented, organized, and adaptive to changing organizational imperatives and shifting priorities
  • Empathetic partnership - you are a top-decile listener with ability to express research and recommendations in clear and concise written documents and present those documents to a variety of stakeholders
  • Technical chops - you have advanced SQL, spreadsheet and data visualization skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a data-centric role
