SUMMARY

As a Registered Nurse Level IV, you will leverage your clinical expertise and leadership skills to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor to fellow team members, providing guidance and support to ensure the highest standards of care on the unit.

The Operating Room (OR) at Unity Hospital offers elective and emergency surgeries for adults and pediatric patients including a variety of services specific specialties.  Types of Surgical procedures and teams performed include: General Surgery, Urology, Bariatric, Ambulatory, Robotic Surgery, Gynecological, Neurology, Vascular, Orthopedic, Otolaryngology, Plastic Reconstruction, Cosmetic Surgery, Podiatric Surgery, and Cardiothoracic Surgery. 

Unity Hospital is a Geriatric Center of Excellence and an Orthopedic Center of Excellence. The PACU is a Silver Beacon award recipient.  The Operating Room at Unity consists of 13 OR’s and 1 Minor Procedure Room.  The use of advanced Robotic equipment for General, Gynecologic, Urologic, Bariatric and Orthopedic surgeries is utilized.  Unity also offers the use of 7D for Neurology surgeries. 

This role is part of the Registered Nurse Level IV / Clinical Nurse IV must complete the following:

  • Complete the Clinical Ladder binder within 12 months of employment

  • Minimum of 5 activities in each Pillar (Leadership, Quality, and Organizational Contribution)

  • 15 Continuing education units (CEU's)

  • 20 Flex items

STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Unity Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Operating Room (OR)

SCHEDULE:  Day/Evening

Call: Weeknights/Weekends/Holidays

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.

  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a registered nurse.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Patient Care & Service. Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; performing various treatment procedures; providing physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervising assigned team members

  • Planning & Communication. Develop and document individualized care plans customized for each patient’s unique needs, with support from the interdisciplinary health team as needed; maintain effective communication to convey patient health status, treatment plans and progress

  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) Management. Demonstrate proficient use of an EHR – including accurate patient and provider documentation and communication

  • Compliance. Adhere to required department and system protocols, regulations (local, state, federal) and education requirements

EDUCATION:

BS: Nursing (Required)

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: 

BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
