Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assure rational, safe, and appropriate medication therapy for all patients

• Follow all laws and regulations pertaining to the practice of pharmacy

• Responsible for all aspects of the dispensing function for inpatients and outpatients

• Responsible for the necessary clinical functions pertaining to medication dispensing. 

• Provide drug information to staff as well as patients 

• Utilize proper aseptic technique and use of laminar flow hoods, and other required equipment in the preparation of IV admixtures

• Compound extemporaneous preparations in accordance with current standards of practice

• Provide developmentally appropriate medications and information counseling for infants, toddlers, pre-school, and school age children, adolescents and family members

Required Skills/Abilities

• Bachelor's degree or Doctorate in Pharmacy institution is required

• IV admixture certification required

• Current pharmacy license in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy required 

• Minimum 1 year of experience is preferred
