About the role

Background/Context

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

UN Women hosts the Secretariat of the United Nations Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), the only multi-partner trust fund dedicated to accelerating programmatic and institutional support for local women’s organizations working in fragile settings to respond to crises and build lasting peace. Since its launch in 2016, WPHF has funded and supported the capacity of over 1,500 local and grassroots civil society organizations in 49 crisis-affected countries around the world. UN Women hosts the Secretariat of the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund. The WPHF Secretariat provides support to the Funding Board, mobilizes resources from Governments, companies, foundations and individuals, provides day to day support to Country Offices implementing WPHF programmes, ensures timely and quality monitoring and reporting, and amplifies the work and impact of WPHF grantee partners around the world. In addition to its Regular Funding Cycle, supporting local interventions led by and working alongside women to contribute to peace and humanitarian action worldwide, WPHF has establish three unique financing mechanisms to respond to new and emerging crises: the Rapid Response Window for Women and Peace Processes, which was requested by the UN SG and supports women’s participation in track 1 and 2 peace processes and the implementation of peace agreements and the Window for Women Human Rights Defenders, which promotes the protection and the participation of WHRDs in crisis settings.

Under the direct supervision of the Partnerships Specialist, the Partnerships Consultant provides technical and operational support to the development and implementation of WPHF’s partnerships and resource mobilization strategy. This includes supporting donor engagement and strategic partnership initiatives; managing donor intelligence, revenue tracking and pipeline analysis; maintaining partnerships databases and knowledge products; and preparing briefing materials. The Consultant contributes to coordinated partnership across governments and other stakeholders and assists in the planning and execution of strategic partnership milestones, including the Global Women’s Forum for Peace, in line with WPHF’s 10-year anniversary objectives as well as 15% support to the WPHF Global Luminaries.
