Based in our SIDNEY, OH location, you will work in conjunction with product and research engineers to design, develop, and qualify compressors for residential and commercial HVAC/R systems. To maintain our role as a global leader in compression solutions, we continually seek talented and ambitious technicians to work in our engineering laboratories. We are seeking a first-shift Assembly Lab technician to contribute to our growth and continued innovation. This position has several work schedule options available once fully trained: Standard schedule is Monday thru Friday 1st shift 8 hrs./day. Other options that may be available after significant training progression is Monday thru Thursday, or Tuesday thru Friday, 1st shift 10 hrs./day.
AS A MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN - HVACR ASSEMBLY LAB, YOU WILL:
- Adhere to all corporate and laboratory safety standards and policies, including all EPA regulations.
- Build and evaluate failure modes of compressors for new product development, customers, and existing product support to meet ARI, ASHRAE, UL, and other industry standards.
- Operate and maintain laboratory test equipment, mechanical equipment, hydraulic presses, welders, and various computer-assisted machines and measuring devices.
- Provide consulting and communicate technical information relating to projects, including accurate work progress updates to concerned stakeholders.
- Document testing, assembly, and inspection results completely and accurately.
- Fabricate new products and existing HVACR products and fixtures utilizing fabrication equipment and tools.
- Use of hand tools, power tools, cutting, welding, and brazing equipment.
- Utilize hydraulic/electrical/mechanical schematics and exploded view blueprints.
- Perform general math calculations and use lab software with computers to create reports.
- Meet the physical demands of the position, which includes manipulation of average to heavyweights, and standing for extended periods of time.
- Utilize Lean fundamentals related to a lab environment.
- Collaborate and work in both a team environment and individually.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
- High school degree plus two to three (2-3) years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Mechanical aptitude or HVAC/R skills.
- Troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
- Blueprint reading skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Personal computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office programs.
- Legal Authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Auto-Diesel Technology, or HVAC/R Technology, plus three (3) years of experience
- Advanced welding skills and experience (TIG)
- Advanced mechanical skills.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Advanced blueprint reading skills.
