Compass Group, the world’s largest contract foodservice company, is seeking a talented and driven Accounting Manager to join our Field Accounting Department at our North America headquarters in Charlotte, NC. In this role, you will lead a team of supervisors and accountants, partner with various internal departments, and play a key role in maintaining financial controls and supporting field operations. Job Summary:
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for direct and indirect management of a team of supervisors and accountants supporting field operations through the accounting cycle, including, but not limited to:
- Hiring, training, development of associates
- Management and measurement of day-to-day performance to expectations
- Communicating, reviewing, and tracking KPIs and annual appraisals
- Partner with internal departments such as Corporate Accounting, Legal, Strategic Analytics, Technical Accounting & Audit, etc., as well as Field Finance and Operations management
- Use all available tools to maintain highest degree of internal control possible
- Analyze profit and loss statement and balance sheet for possible mis-statement/defalcation
- Conduct a monthly detailed review of all balance sheet accounts, escalating any major issues to management and the field to help mitigate financial risk for the company
- Verify all entries are made in accordance with IFRS and GAAP, Group Accounting Manual, Field Accounting Standards and any specific contractual terms
- Oversee the accounting close process each period
- Ensure fulfillment of Service Level Agreements to the field and other internal customers
- Communicate with/train field personnel on accounting policies and procedures
- Ad hoc reporting and projects as needed
- Execute and support change management and share best practices across all Field Accounting
- Continuously seek out possibilities to improve processes and increase efficiencies utilizing all available technologies
- Be an active, contributing member of the Field Accounting Management Team
Qualifications:
- Four-year Accounting or Finance degree required; CPA/CMA/MBA preferred
- 5 years of accounting experience with 3 years of supervisory experience
- 3+ years Field Accounting experience preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills
- Proven leadership ability
- Ability to work under pressure of tight deadlines
- Must be a quick learner and self-motivated, as well as resilient
- Experience with contract interpretation is a plus
- Proven ability to influence and manage resources
- Proficient knowledge of Excel, SAP a plus
- Experience with Hyperion/Essbase a plus
- Relationship builder that is able to effectively communicate, written and verbally, with all levels of associates across the organization
