About the role

Overview

Brookdale Community College seeks a qualified adjunct instructor to teach Drawing 1 for the Fall 2025 semester. This foundational course introduces students to the principles and techniques of observational drawing, fostering both technical skill development and individual artistic expression.

 

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction in foundational drawing concepts, methods, and skills, including working from direct observation, composition, light and shadow, perspective, and various drawing media.
  • Develop a course syllabus addendum aligned with department standards, including objectives, outcomes, and grading criteria.
  • Hold office hours to support students outside of class.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Expertise in drawing.
  • Familiarity with a variety of traditional drawing media.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence. 

 

Preferred Qualifications & Special Considerations: 

  • Prior teaching experience at the community college level.
  • Experience with diverse student populations.
  • Knowledge of Monmouth County and its communities.
