About the role

Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Senior Analyst to join our Provider lifecycle team.

Oscar is the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform and a focus on serving our members. We started Oscar in 2012 to create the kind of health insurance company we would want for ourselves—one that behaves like a doctor in the family.

About the role

This lead level analyst position will be focused on turning our provider, facility and related operational data into insights and reporting. The role will be focused on improving our filing infrastructure (greater accuracy and less touch), setting up systems and processes for monitoring and triaging issues, and ensuring accurate & timely delivery of our regulatory reporting. If you have superior data skills and have built a reputation in your current role as a problem solver and trusted partner, then we want to talk to you! We are looking for inquisitive minds who do not accept issues as "just the way it is." This is an excellent opportunity for a career professional looking for a change, a challenge, and the ability to make a positive impact.

You will report to the Senior Manager, Regulatory Data & Reporting.

This is a remote / work-from-home role. You must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, or Washington, D.C. Note, this list of states is subject to change. #LI-Remote

The base pay for this role in the states of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Washington is: $96,000 - $126,000 per year. The base pay for this role in all other locations is: $86,400 - $113,400 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, and annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and analytical support for network filing and Oscar's network expansion efforts; own data deliverables required for Oscar's regulatory compliance.
  • Identify improvements and automations in regulatory filing infrastructure.
  • Own, develop, and prioritize operations roadmaps working cross functionally to implementation.
  • Distill the requirements of new product and market expansions and design automated workflows to reduce manual work requirements.
  • Support the Operations teams to resolve escalations through issue investigation, training, and technical tooling.
  • Understanding of the operations ecosystem, technology and data models as well as its current strengths, weaknesses, and gaps.
  • Proactively identify issues in core processes, routing to the right people for resolution.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders as a representative of Provider Operations; convey complex information in a way that is easily understood.
  • Simplify reporting infrastructure, partnering with others as needed to implement vision.
  • Create custom queries to facilitate ad-hoc requests or to run down a theory; looking for someone who knows how to use data to validate assumptions.
  • Balance multiple near- and long-term priorities in a high-pressure environment.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree or significant demonstrated success in field
  • 4+ years of increasing responsibility and skill in a data-focused role
  • Experience solving complex problems with demonstrated success in digging into data to discover root causes and drive solutions; expert at debugging data problems
  • Strong SQL skills (ability to execute basics such as inner joins, left joins, aggregate functions and subqueries without the use of supporting resources)
  • Expert in Excel and/or Google Sheets

Bonus Points

  • Programming experience (especially in Python)
  • 3+ years of operations experience (process improvement, project managing, and lean operations)
  • 3+ years of work experience in an Insurance/Financial Services environment
  • Experience working with provider and facility data
  • Background in health insurance
  • Experience automating and/or designing data pipelines
