Position Summary

 

Resting at 7,000 feet and surrounded by the San Francisco Peaks, the scenic city of Flagstaff remains an important distribution site for large manufacturers like Nestlé Purina. Just a stone's throw from downtown, where the city's culture comes to life, we get to experience the best of both worlds: the city and the mountains. Annually, the Nestlé Purina team in Flagstaff proudly mass manufactures 280,000 tons of dry pet food from our Dog Chow®, Beneful®, Nestlé Purina ONE®, Alpo®, and Pro Plan® brands. Our factory is also proud to do our part to care for the environment, like conserving water, investing in renewable electricity and maintaining zero waste for disposal.

As a Controls Technical Specialist I, you will independently and collaboratively support control systems for daily manufacturing operations and troubleshoot electrical and controls-related issues. You’ll provide instrumentation, PLC, and HMI/SCADA software and hardware support to plant maintenance staff, engage in control system software and electrical upgrades, and assist with capital project implementations.

 

  • Learn and maintain a working knowledge of Corporate Control System Standards and Guidelines
  • Understand the design, programming, and troubleshooting of process instruments, PLCs, and HMIs
  • Possess working knowledge of the tools and test equipment used for testing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining production electrical equipment, instrumentation, and controls
  • Maintain electrical drawings and participate in continuing education
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Know and utilize safe work practices for all voltages up to 480VAC and 600VDC
     

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in a technical discipline AND 1+ years of applicable experience in PLC software and hardware troubleshooting and/or PC- based HMI-systems

OR

  • High School Diploma / GED equivalent AND 3+ years of applicable experience in PLC software and hardware troubleshooting and/or PLC-based HMI-systems

 

The approximate pay range for this position is $62,000.00 to $82,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
