The Groundskeeper II provides technical and supervisory skills in planning, organizing and directing the maintenance of grounds. Responsible for the maintenance and general beautification of all grounds including gardens, landscaped areas and parking areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Mows grass, trims shrubs, trims and cuts trees, replaces dead plants hauls dirt and fertilizes.
- Trims and edges sidewalks, driveways and flowerbeds.
- Cuts weeds and brush, and removes leaves and rubbish from the grounds.
- Waters shrubbery, hedges, seedlings flowers and grass.
- Assists in potting plants and transplanting shrubs, plants, trees and flowers.
- Seeds, plants, sods, grades, and cuts lawns.
- Keeps grounds clean and reports broken or leaking hydrants.
- Packs and maintains football fields, baseball diamonds, and intramural fields.
- Lines fields and tracks.
- Cleans and maintains tools equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Considered essential personnel.
- Drive a UTA vehicle.
- Performs related duties as required.
- This position requires a Texas Class “C” Operator’s Driver’s License and three (3) years of acceptable driving history.
- No experience or education required.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Ability to read and understand verbal instruction and to learn the operation of all equipment.
- Ability to operate power tools.
- Physical strength and agility needed to perform assigned tasks.
- Capable of following instructions.
- Knowledge of the practices and techniques for the proper care of plants, flowers, shrubs, trees, and lawns.
