Provides administrative laboratory and customer service support.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Receives, sorts and processes laboratory specimens by following Standard Operating Procedures. Transports samples to laboratories. Stores and retrieves samples from long term storage.
  • Enters data and/or searches computer files for pertinent data. May utilize database, spreadsheet and word processing programs.
  • Operates and maintains centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers, computers, copiers and other basic laboratory and office equipment. Cleans glassware and distributes to analytical areas. Stocks work area. Maintains general laboratory cleanliness. Follows all laboratory safety requirements.
  • Answers phone and directs calls. Answers basic questions for clients. May give laboratory results with the approval of the supervisor.
  • Performs clerical duties, copying, mailing, filing, etc. May pick up and distribute incoming packages and mail. Prepare outgoing shipments of samples, reports, etc.
  • Demonstrates and promotes excellence in customer service and good working relationships with coworkers and clients. Projects positive and professional image of laboratory.
  • Assists supervisor with other duties and special projects as needed.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Laboratory and computer experience in a medical setting.
  • Demonstrated communication and organizational skills.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
