About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will support the Senior Controller in managing financial operations for both our investment funds and management company. You will have a critical role in ensuring that our data is correct, and our numbers tie out. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, curious, is energized by new challenges and is interested in the digital assets space.
Responsibilities
- Assist in financial accounting and operations for both investment funds and the management company
- Support the preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- Perform reconciliations of fund investment holdings and activities
- Process vendor payments and expense reports
- Post journal entries and maintain the general ledger of the management company
- Conduct month-end balance sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliations
- Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes
- Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls
- Help reconcile fund administrator reports with internal records, focusing on investment holdings and activities
- Help maintain shadow accounting records
- Assist in calculating and reporting investment performance metrics for the Head of Finance
- Assist in annual audits and requests from the Fund Administrator
- Support the preparation of financial statements for management and board meetings
- Post journal entries to reflect the activities of the management company and its subsidiaries
- Ensure proper month-end close and year-end close processes and checklists are performed to ensure accuracy in reporting
- Help maintain financial policies and procedures documentation
- Monitor receivables and payables, processing vendor payments

Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in accounting, preferably with exposure to investment management and hedge funds
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business
- General knowledge of US GAAP a plus, but not required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including advanced functions) and familiarity with financial software and ERP systems (Sage)
- Experience dealing with large data sets for analysis and reporting purposes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced setting
- Understanding of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology is a plus but not required
