Research Assistant Professor Position - Transformative and High-Performance Concrete

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a full-time, Professional track (non-tenure line), Research Assistant Professor position in transformative and high-performance concrete materials. Penn State’s CEE leads cutting-edge research in concrete decarbonization, durability and service-life extension of civil infrastructure, alternative cementitious materials, and sensor development for assessing concrete quality and durability. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Farshad Rajabipour in management and execution of research projects, proposal development, mentoring of graduate students, and authorship of journal papers. Teaching opportunities and serving on CEE department committees may be available depending on the candidate’s interests.
The required qualifications are:
PhD degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
Extensive research experience related to concrete technology and experimental or computational materials science
A minimum of 2 years of post-PhD research experience
Strong track record in scientific contributions supported by peer-reviewed publications
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
