Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an excellent opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Systems Test – System Test SME (25-504) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This position, based at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO, plays a vital role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

 

This position does not offer relocation support and requires on-site work with no remote options.

 

Position Overview:

 

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital component of the Missile Defense System. It provides a crucial operational platform that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively manage networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by linking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to improve overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC plays a key role in all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.

The System Test Team is responsible for planning and analyzing all ground and flight tests related to the C2BMC program.

 

Essential Functions:

• Ground test types include:

- Pairwise tests

- Continuous Developmental Integration (CDI)

- Integrated Ground Test (GTI)

- Distributed Ground Test (GTD)

- Cyber Tests

- Space Domain Awareness (SDA)

- Pre-flight test HWIL efforts

• Flight tests are performed with predetermined sensors and shooters

• International events consist of various ground and flight tests

Basic Qualifications:

 

Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

 

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field such as Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a STEM-related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related field with 4 years of relevant work experience.

• Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

• Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% to support business needs

• Experience in integration and testing within the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program

• Planning all assigned test events, focusing on creating and implementing the necessary test artifacts for each one:

- Test Objectives and Architectures

- Data Item Description

- Sensor Resource Defense Manager Designs (SRM) Settings

- Operational Tasking Data Link (OPTASKLINK)

- Air Defense Systems Integrator (ADSI)

- System Configuration and Forwarding Tables, CDS, TDACS, TRAUT TDACS, Communications Connectivity Matrices, Ev
