We have an exciting opportunity for an intern on our Development Team, specifically on the Heart’s Delight Wine Tasting & Auction team. As an intern supporting the Heart’s Delight Wine Tasting & Auction, you will play a key role in driving the success of this impactful campaign. Your responsibilities will include a variety of tasks that contribute to the planning, execution of the multi-million dollar campaign. 

 

The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

Internship Overview:

  • Time Commitment: 25 hours per weekInternship Duration: 1/26/26-5/1/26Location: Knoxville, TN Office Salary: $23.00 per hour

Responsibilities

Event Planning & Support:

  • Assist with the planning, coordinating, and executing pre-event logistics, and on-site event management for the 2026 Heart’s Delight Wine Tasting & Auction, as well as other pre–Heart’s Delight events (chair reception, Champagne event, wine dinners, etc.)

 

Event Outreach & Engagement:

  • Assist with the researching and outreach to prospective in-kind donors for event items (i.e. awards, gifts, photographers, auction items, etc.)

 

Sponsor Support:

  • Assist with sponsor presentation preparation and gathering materials for sponsor follow-up after meetings, helping to maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Assist with the creation of sponsorship PowerPoints in Canva that will be displayed on screen during the event.

 

Data & Reporting:

  • Assist with pulling reports, data entry, and organizing event-related information to track progress and outcomes for the Heart’s Delight Wine Tasting & Auction

 

Administrative Support:

  • Assist with administrative tasks such as preparing printed materials, writing thank-you cards to donors and sponsors and organizing event supplies.
  • Other additional administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, communications, public relations, nonprofit fundraising, or event management.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
  • Effective oral and presentation communication skills.
  • Proficiency across multiple social media platforms.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Canva.
  • Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
