Senior Software Engineer 

 

Location: Remote, anywhere in the US.

 

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Senior Backend Java Engineer to join the fully remote Infrastructure IoT team. As an integral part of our backend engineering team, you will work independently, efficiently manage your day-to-day tasks, while closely collaborating with the product team to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions. Your deep understanding of backend systems, commitment to quality, and ability to drive projects to completion will contribute to our mission of delivering scalable and high-quality software products.

 

Your Day-to-Day:

• Develop and maintain high-quality backend services and APIs.

• Work with NoSQL databases, with a strong preference for candidates with MongoDB experience.

• Employ your experience with time-series databases like Elasticsearch to manage large datasets and optimize search capabilities within our services.

• Manage and deploy services on a Linux-based environment (Ubuntu) using AWS cloud infrastructure.

• Utilizing Kafka for asynchronous service communication.

• Create well-designed, testable, and efficient code with a focus on solid technical designs.

• Collaborate with the product team to break down business needs into technical requirements and tasks.

• Build secure, RESTful endpoints for the seamless integration with front-end components and external systems.

• Implement comprehensive unit tests and perform end-to-end testing to ensure feature quality and reliability.

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes.

• This role does not require travel.

• Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).

 

What You Bring to The Team:

• Ability to work independently, self-manage, and prioritize tasks effectively.

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience with Java.

• Proficiency building RESTful APIs.

• Extensive experience with NoSQL databases; MongoDB highly preferred.

• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, AWS, Kafka, and Tomcat.

• Experience working in Linux platforms (Ubuntu).

• Solid understanding of code testing methodologies, including unit testing and end-to-end testing of features.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work on complex systems.

• Excellent communication collaboration skills
