As Global Head of Medical Affairs you will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all medical affairs and associated scientific activities for Grünenthal ‘s full portfolio of medicines, including input to early stage assets, through late stage development, to product approval, launch and life-cycle management; ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, regulatory compliance, and effective communication with healthcare professionals
What the job looks like
Each day you'll enjoy a variety of challenges, such as:
- Develop and implement global medical affairs strategies aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
- Provide medical expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams in the development and execution of clinical research, regulatory affairs, and commercialisation activities
- Lead medical area globally, including direct accountability for activities undertaken by global medical affairs team and indirect, but guiding role in the outputs of local medical affairs teams
- Ensure clinical leadership by medical affairs to the relevant brand and customer strategies; specifically - comprehensive medical input into:
- early stage asset development plan(s)– team members are on asset core teams led by R&D
- early stage asset evaluation during diligence(s) for any non-approved/non-commercialised product
- Launch and growth brands strategies & activities (including LCM)
- Established brand late life cycle activities
- Oversight of and ensuring content delivered to support omnichannel engagement platforms
- Design, implementation and oversight of medical governance globally, in accordance with GRT code of conduct, relevant laws and internal relevant rules and processes
- Responsible for the global strategy and management of scientific societies and Key External Experts in line with the portfolio development and commercialisation strategy
- Responsible for designing and implementing the global strategy for Investigator Initiated Studies, Real World Evidence data gathering and publications within global governance
- Leadership and development of the medical affairs community globally, including competencies and skills development
What you'll bring to the table
To make the most of this role and truly thrive, you should have:
- MD with a minimum 10-15 years industry experience in a medical affairs leadership role, including at above-country/regional or global
- Having worked in the US market is a must
- Ideally, with experience with opioid-based medicines or other controlled substances
- Ideally, with experience in the pain/CNS therapy areas
- Demonstrated governance experience, including SOPs, codes of conduct, approval of activities/materials
- Demonstrated track record of engagement with Key External Experts
- Proven track record of building, developing and leading successful teams across cultures and geographies
- Cross-functional, collaboration mindset
- Agile, flexible preference for how to get work done
- Strong medical and scientific expertise with a good understanding of Pain TA and the ability to critically analyze and interpret complex clinical data.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey scientific information to diverse audiences, including healthcare professionals, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of global regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and ethical guidelines governing the pharmaceutical industry, combined with a strong ethical mindset.
- Business acumen and commercial awareness to align medical strategies with commercial objectives and contribute to product success.
