The Boeing CompanyBoeing Commercial Airlines (BCA) is looking for a Propulsion Design and Analysis Engineer (Experienced or Senior) to join our team in Long Beach, CA.
The Propulsion Engine Installation and Integration team is a Design Engineering group that supports various out-of-production airplane models and multiple propulsion sub-disciplines, including engine controls, thrust reverser actuation systems, performance and operability, engine installation and build-up, and engine integration. The team’s primary responsibilities focus on:
Ensuring fleet safety
Enhancing fleet reliability
Managing integration efforts with engine manufacturers
Specifically, the team is responsible for:
Integrating and prioritizing a broad spectrum of technical changes impacting main engines across multiple airplane models
Leading certification efforts, including development of certification plans, deliverables, and supporting testing as needed
Developing and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with engine manufacturers
Conducting technical review meetings with engine manufacturers
Supporting in-service customer inquiries in partnership with Service Engineering
Evaluating fleet safety through research and analysis of in-service events
Managing customer modifications related to propulsion systems
Position Responsibilities:
Supports technical changes impacting in-service programs related to propulsion installations, controls, performance and operability, and/or thrust reverser systems
Assess engine technical changes for their impact at the aircraft level
Demonstrates a basic understanding of the certification process, including regulations, methods of compliance, and typical deliverables
Participates in certification efforts to ensure compliance with FAA and EASA regulations across various airplane programs
Coordinates with internal partners such as Propulsion Stress, Engine Management, Flight Test, Propulsion Service Engineering, and the Fleet Office to successfully meet project goals and schedules
Conducts research, analysis, risk assessments, and testing to ensure safety, reliability, maintainability, and compliance with propulsion system requirements
Collaborates with other engineering disciplines to develop responses to customer inquiries and provide technical solutions and troubleshooting for engine system changes
Interfaces with suppliers and external partners to facilitate successful collaboration on engine system changes
Works under minimal direction, demonstrating initiative and sound judgment
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
5 or more years’ experience in a propulsion engineering field/discipline
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
Understanding of engine and aircraft certification processes, regulations (FAA, EASA), and compliance methods
Experience in aircraft design, systems engineering, or system integration
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to organize and present technical information clearly
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex propulsion and aircraft systems, applying analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience collaborating effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams on design changes, troubleshooting, and technical investigations
Proficient in reviewing and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision, while also contributing effectively in team environments
