About this job:
Responsible for supporting Head Start staff, families, and children in building a culture of health and wellness through the implementation, promotion, and coordination of wellness initiatives, including those connected to the Head Start program standards. Advances the District's and the Head Start program's wellness strategies by providing technical expertise and support to classrooms, families, administration, and community partners in planning, implementing, and evaluating the Head Start and ECE department’s contributions to Whole Child Supports.

• Performs and/or assists with and documents accurately all required health screenings on young children (e.g. vision, hearing, dental, height, weight, etc.); collaborates with parent/guardian and relevant staff to obtain required documentation, to identify medical and dental homes, and to obtain medical insurance for children; reviews health and nutrition histories and follows up on health concerns; completes health and developmental histories
• Provides support and conducts activities related to logistics, reporting, training, communications, and processes within the DPS Head Start program performance standards and in compliance with related public health laws and policies
• Provides families with opportunities for learning about relevant health related topics (e.g., sleep, nutrition and diet, exercise, mental well-being, etc.), and partners with community resources to bring educational opportunities to Head Start families and staff
• Troubleshoots day to day problems and applies expert understanding to help resolve any challenges within the health and other related components of the ECE/Head Start program
• Ensures purposeful, positive, and professional interactions and relationships with all stakeholders; enables consistent application of work and work flow across the Head Start program
• Other tasks and projects as assigned
What You’ll Need: (Education, Experience, Qualifications from Payfactors)
- High School Diploma/GED - Required
- Bachelor's Degree - In Public Health, Wellness or related field - Preferred
- One (1+) plus year of experience in the field of health, nutrition, family support and engagement - Required
- One (1+) plus year professional experience in Head Start and/or Early Education – Preferred
- Bilingual - Preferred
- Knowledge of Google Suite
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines
- The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance
- Work collaboratively with others on a team
- High degree of integrity in handling confidential information
