The Sensor Controls & Electronics (SCE) Department is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer with strong Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) computing and networking background to join our Hardware and Infrastructure team implementing the next generation RADAR solutions. This position will work with Product Leads and other team members on a variety of tasks related to the design and development of systems using COTS computing and networking products.

What You Will Do

Engineer will lead/work as part of a highly motivated team and will collaborate with cross-functional project teams making up a larger program or work on internal research and development efforts.

  • Design COTS hardware infrastructure system (e.g. X86-based processors) 

  • Research and select servers, workstations, add-in interface cards, storage devices, and other COTS hardware

  • BIOS and operating system configuration definition

  • System prototyping and integration in the lab

This position will sit in Marlborough, MA or the Tewksbury, MA location

Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

Minimum eight (8) years of professional experience in the following areas:

  • Experience with emerging and legacy hardware and software, including Unix and Linux operating systems

  • Experience developing and implementing computing, networking, and information technology infrastructure through a rigorous design and documentation process

  • Experience with taking a system design concept from the block diagram or requirements level and developing a complete COTS-based hardware design and then verifying the design via integration and test plans and activities

  • Experience working in a lab environment and operating standard test equipment including oscilloscopes, processor bus analyzers, emulators, and data capture tools, etc.

  • Experience collaborating in development with hardware engineering disciplines, supply chain, suppliers, field engineering, on-site installation and trades, and Customers to develop and deliver safety critical systems

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Masters degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline

  • Current or in-progress computing/networking certification(s) (e.g. CCNA, AWS, CISSP)

  • Experience with RADAR system hardware

  • Experience with Firewall design and configuration 

  • Experience implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides and network hardening

  • Experience with system level hardware integration and troubleshooting skills

  • Keeping internal customers advised of status and participating in strategic decisions on planning and execution

  • Managing to a schedule and budget

  • Interest and capability in task and team leadership, including leading teams of 2 to 5 engineers on a common task or group of tasks

  • Willingness to mentor junior engineers

  • Willingness to support occasional domestic travel and potential international travel
