Job Description
The NBC Chicago Investigative and Consumer Team is looking for an intern to work side-by-side with producers and news reporters.
This internship is for someone who relishes finding out things that no one else has ever taken the time to find out. It’s a job for someone who can tackle new sources and resources. Good investigative interns are curious and persistent, work hard to uncover new facts and are willing to pivot from story to story as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in daily editorial process: planning, researching, analyzing documents, making phone calls to track down stories, researching story tips and ideas
- Talking to viewers and tipsters
- Helping with numbers and statistics
- Tracking down video and logging tapes
- Assist with web articles
- Pre-interviewing and field producing
Qualifications
Summer 2023 Internship Program:

- Recent graduates will NOT be eligible for this program
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the length of the program and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress
- Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits)
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal
- IN-PERSON/HYBRID must be willing to work in Chicago, IL
Desired Characteristics:
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
- Students with class standing of junior or above preferred
- Must have strong writing ability
