Position Summary

The Department of Developmental Biology at WashU Medicine invites applications for a Research Technician I for the Zebrafish Facility. WashU in St. Louis is home to one of the largest and most modern zebrafish facilities in the world with robotic feeding and cleaning systems. This facility allows for large-scale, collaborative projects that would not be possible for individual investigators, helping scientists understand human development and disease, from birth defects and cancer to muscle and nerve disorders.

We are seeking an outstanding applicant to join at the level of Research Tech I to assist and support other team members in maintaining superior micro and macro environments for the researchers and laboratory animals alike. The Research Technician I will carry out general fish husbandry duties and other research laboratory functions.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assists the investigator or higher-level technician with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintains files on research and assists with data entry.
• Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

• Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. 
• Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

$16.54 - $22.35 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
