Role Overview
The role is accountable to develop, optimise, and manage the GBS Service: Business Analytics. An early part of this will be to define the next generation Operating Model to provide further value to Smith & Nephew enterprise wide.
Through effective leadership and relationship management, contribute to the business leadership teams to support strategic direction and operation decision making.
The role is Global, determining and developing the way that Analytics supports the business for decision making, financial and non-financial measure achievement. The service supports most parts of the business from Commercial, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Operations, Finance through to teams such as Legal.
The role will lead a global team of 50, some based in our GBS centers and others onshore with our internal customers. The role needs to develop how the CoE can best support and advance business objectives through available and new technology. The leader will need to partner closely with IT Data & Analytics and IT systems leadership team to both receive and provide support for/prioritization of projects and coordinate one-face to the customer.
The role is also expected to lead the way in developing more insightful approaches to provide insight and provoke business interventions to support our business strategy. Working with senior leadership to maximise impact and use of analytics will be critical as well as developing the next generation operating model
What will you be doing?
COE Strategy and Alignment
- Develops, refines and aligns COE strategy and goals.
- Define and implement the next generation global operating model for S+N, including role of teams (i.e. with business onshore, in centres, in GBS COEs and IT). Subsequently, enhance, refine, and scale the Business Analytics Center of Excellence
- Reports routinely to senior business sponsors and internal customers on progress and benefits.
- Collaborate with business sponsors to ensure the proper work is being prioritized for their needs.
- Aligns the COE focus, scope and requirements with IT and senior leadership.
- Enhance the understanding of and support for a centralized analytics team and the benefits it brings.
- Deliver value and insights to the business with analytics.
Analytics methods technical leadership in practice
- Bring methods and tools to continually improve the way analytics are produced, consumed and impact including.
- Technologies used, including Gen AI
- Methods for checking and improving accuracy, including forecast accuracy.
- Visualisations for maximizing understanding.
People leadership
- Develop a strong team of Business Relationship managers, Analysts, Data Scientists, and Visualisation Engineers that can efficiently deliver and support the various Analytical tools and insights needed to support the company’s goals.
- Continuously assess resource needs, optimization opportunities and placement strategies
- Develops together with the team leaders and managers clear development plans and opportunities (incl. training needs assessment, etc)
Programme and delivery oversight
- Assures analytics projects are delivered in time, quality, and cost
- Acts as escalation point and ensure transparency is provided
- Collaborate closely with IT Data & Analytics to ensure the data required to support the business is available
- Assures the quality and integrity of analytics tools and reports and drives for design consistency at the highest standards
- Successfully deliver the transition and stabilization of UDP
- Works with the team to achieve KPIs set
What will you need to be successful?
- MBA or equivalent experience, with 10-12+ years in data and analytics.
- Proven experience leading global teams and working at the executive level.
- Skilled in analytics tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Alteryx, Excel) and AI tools (Co-pilot, Chat
