We are seeking an International Arbitration Paralegal to join our International Arbitration practice. This position provides paralegal support to attorneys on our International Disputes team and will report directly to the Director of Administration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of the arbitration process, especially investor-state, international commercial, construction, and domestic arbitration
  • Familiarity with various venues and rules for international arbitrations, including the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), and the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR)
  • Familiarity with domestic arbitration practices of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services (JAMS)
  • Assist with initial drafts and finalization of filings
  • Extensive footnote review, cite-checking and organization of all supporting documentary and witness evidence required for lengthy memorials 
  • Organize and maintain case documents, files, team databases and electronic data
  • Prepare document chronologies and summaries
  • Conduct research to locate opinions, legal authorities, exhibits, reports, media articles and information related to a case
  • Manage and organize large quantities of translations, including working closely with vendors providing translations
  • Manage photocopying, binding, and electronic data services vendors
  • Work with and assist experts and witnesses
  • Organize and maintain document management systems
  • Assist with pre-hearing preparations and logistics
  • Assist at hearings, including hearing attendance that can last 2-3 weeks
  • Assist with post-hearing tasks, breakdown of office working space, breakout rooms, and hearing room, organize shipment of hearing materials back to attorney offices
  • Supervise project assistants and legal practice assistants as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • 5+ years of international arbitration experience in a mid-to-large size law firm
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Well-developed Microsoft Office skills, including PowerPoint and Excel
  • Knowledge of data bases used to store and sort documents such as Relativity
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and communicate well with all levels of personnel
  • Experience with onsite international hearings; must have the ability to work overtime including weekends
  • Some international travel will be necessary

OTHER:

  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required

Pay Transparency Range:

The anticipated full-time annualized salary range is below:

New York: $100,000 - $155,000

Washington, D.C.:$87,000 - $145,000

Denver: $90,000 - $130,000

The salary offer will be contingent upon various factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, internal equity, market data, job location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
