Background & Purpose of the Job
The Associate Warehouse Manager (AWM) is responsible for managing all end-to-end warehouse processes and Third-Party Logistics (3PL) warehouse relationships. The AWM is responsible for all 3PL’s daily activities to ensure internal and external customer expectations are met. Activities include; directing and training 3PLs on Unilever’s requirements, maintaining and enforcing operational policies and procedures, performing on-site operational audits, coordinating rework requests, USDA compliance and auditing 3PL invoices to assure adherence to contract. The AWM acts as the critical linkage to Unilever Quality Assurance, Supply Chain Planning, Transportation, Contract Manufacturing, Customer Service, and Finance for their respective warehouses. The AWM is also responsible for driving continuous improvement, cost savings, waste reduction, budget preparation and management, capacity planning initiatives and KPI review. The position is also required to lead and support projects and serve on cross functional teams as required.
Purpose:
Responsible for leading operational excellence within Warehousing, primarily through third-party service providers. Focus is applied to continuous improvement, relationship management, and implementation of new capabilities and coordination linkage with extended Supply Chain
To determine root causes & gap analysis and provide best course of action (process change, system change, training, etc) for Distributions Centers in regard to external and internal customers.
To ensure warehousing operations are run in a cost-effective manner. Including: initiate cost savings plans, review inventory records, minimizing warehouse damages, and make calculated decisions which allow customer expectations to be met while staying within the budget.
To perform operational audits at each Distribution Center based on KPI performance, Sarbanes Oxley compliance, safety, sanitation, or other concerns such as inventory reconciliation or loss.
To coordinate Supply Chain initiatives such as rework requests, special pallets, custom pallets, DSDs, and others to increases sales and/or reduce capital.
To lead and participate in cross-functional teams as required.
To ensure all Third-Party service expenses associated with warehouse operations are audited and approved in accordance with Unilever accounting principles. As well as managing budgetary compliance.
Coordinate recall reporting and associated activities such as quarterly mock recall audits, product holds, and active member of recall teams.
Review and approve SOX and Inventory adjustment documents from each site as maybe require.
Manage End of Period (EOP) activities, including calculating shipment risk exposure and ensuring all loads are reported timely before midnight cutoff.
Serve as Main contact for the escalation for any system related issue that is impacting the DC 24/7.
