Building Security Officer

The Building Security Officer is responsible for contributing to the safety and security of designated City buildings for visitors and employees by enforcing City policies and procedures and applicable local, state and federal laws. They perform routine security patrols in order to prevent thefts, destruction of property, disorderly conduct and other adverse incidents on City property.
Primary Duties include:
- Enforcement of policies, procedures and applicable laws that contribute to the safety and security of visitors and employees of assigned city building(s).
- Performs routine security patrols of internal building premises and outside premises in order to prevent thefts, destruction of property, disorderly conduct and other adverse incidents on City property. Responds to building burglar alarms, fire alarms and other emergencies and assists as necessary. Reports irregularities, including but not limited to safety/maintenance repair concerns to management. Maintain lost and found for the building.
- Performs security related functions, including but not limited to logs visitor information to ensure awareness of building occupants and monitors individuals entering and exiting the building; standbys, visitor and employee esco1ts throughout the building as necessary, parking lot escorts, report writing, security camera monitoring, and other duties as directed.
Minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent, one year security/law enforcement related experience preferred.
Entry rate of pay: $17.33 - 18.00 per hour depending on qualifications.
