The Royal Caribbean Group’s Celebrity Cruises brand has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Director, Theatrical Production on the Fleet Entertainment Team reporting to the Vice-President, Entertainment.
This position will work on-site in Miami, Florida.
Position Summary:
In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing fleetwide theater productions, entertainment vendor management, cast performances, casting, wardrobe and studio operations, and promotional events to Celebrity brand performance standards. This entails leads sourcing, vetting and management of industry-leading creative and production teams to collaborate on the development of new show product. Also entails overseeing all production personnel and production vendors for studios, shipboard and shoreside. Ensures highest level of entertainment talent, creatives and producers are sourced and coached to support Celebrity Cruises’ high caliber, award-winning productions, onboard experiences and events. You will liaise with Manager, Entertainment Technical Operations and install teams to ensure highest levels of safety standards, quality and operations is always adhered to while establishing and maintaining production integrity standards to ensure they are always met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages fleetwide theatrical productions operations and development as it relates to new show creation, existing product artistic integrity maintenance, casting strategy, costumes, studio, and fleet entertainment operations.
- Manages and provides coaching to shoreside team of approximately 7 professionals, 40 + vendors at the studios, and 400+ cast members in the Celebrity fleet and provides guidance and coaching on selection.
- Manages studio operations for Celebrity Cruises’ 130,000 sq. ft. RCG shared facility, including production team, costume shop, cast members, vendor support staff and partnering with the technical team.
- Leads planning, production process and team calendar for departmental projects, collaborating with internal departments and external vendors.
- Forecasts and oversees management of capital and operating budgets. Manages 5-year capital plan and capital request submissions for show product.
- Prepares and presents information spanning creative and strategy to financials, analytics and business cases to various teams and senior leadership, as needed.
- Works with teams to conceptualize, develop and deliver innovative entertainment and potential partnerships that keep our brand on the leading edge of the industry while driving guest satisfaction.
- Liaises with Product Strategy, Development, Newbuild, Entertainment Experiences, Hotels Operations teams to holistically enhance and develop entertainment products, venues, and events.
- Researches, vets, and leads RFP process, in partnership with Procurement, for industry-leading entertainment producers, partners and vendors to create new and innovative entertainment for Celebrity Cruises vessels.
- Responsible for the safe and efficient installation of new onboard entertainment, leading Production and liaising with technical teams during creation and installation process to ensure projects are executed in compliance with policies and brand standards.
- Oversees casting operations and develops innovative strategies to ensure acquisition and retention of top-level vocal, dance and specialty performing talent.
- Oversees creation and implementation of departmental policies and procedures, ensuring safety standards are met.
- Collaborates with Procurement, Legal and Finance teams to develop most cost-effective and favorable contracts for production, partnerships, and vendors, ensuring any licensing requirements are met.
- Creates presentations that visualize current or proposed future programming for presentation to senior leadership.
- Partners with Sales, Marketing, PR, Hotel Operations, and other departments to develop and execute innovative events both shipboard and shoreside to support campaigns and sales initiatives across the organization.
- Works with analytics team to monitor guest feedback and customer demographics to ensure successful programming and continuous improvement in ratings through action plan follow up.
- Reviews and audits onboard entertainment, offering guidance to ensure an elevated guest experience is offered and brand standards are being met.
