About the Position WatchGuard Technologies, Inc. is based in Seattle, Washington. Telecommuting within commuting distance of the Seattle office is permitted. The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for the following duties: Assisting outside tax accountants in the preparation and review of federal, state, international tax returns, and tax provisions; International tax compliance and cross-border tax planning, as well as assessing permanent establishment in foreign jurisdictions; Coordinating accounting projects with other members of the accounting team to gather, assemble, and analyze financial and other data to support the creation of all tax compliance documents; Training, reviewing and providing guidance to accounting staff with the preparation of monthly and quarterly close reconciliations; Responding to, supporting, and resolving tax inquiries, notices, audits from different tax authorities, including federal income tax, state income/franchise tax, state sales and use tax, excise taxes, personal property taxes, Value Added Tax (VAT), Goods and Services Tax (GST), and foreign income taxes; Presenting technical tax matters to management team; Managing multiple projects and working with multiple teams in various jurisdictions, including cross-functional teams (e.g., accounting, legal, and employees in international locations) to implement valuable planning initiatives and provide tax guidance on general business operations; and Preparing transfer pricing documentation to support intercompany operations and procedures.
ExperienceThe minimum requirements for the position are a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or closely related field of study, plus five years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in federal and state tax compliance, preparation, and review; and in international tax compliance and cross-border tax planning, as well as assessing permanent establishment in foreign jurisdictions. The five years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience must also include: 4 years of experience coordinating accounting projects and training accounting staff; 3 years of experience representing companies to resolve notices, audits, and other inquiries from different tax authorities; 2 years of experience presenting technical tax matters to management team; 2 years of experience managing multiple projects and working with multiple teams in various jurisdictions; and 1 year of experience preparing and reviewing tax provisions under ASC 740. All experience may be gained concurrently.CompensationThe base salary range is $117,915/year-$120,000/year for full-time employment, exclusive of benefits. This position is also eligible for a bonus of 5% of the base salary. Your base salary compensation will be based on your individual skills, education, and experience. Please keep in mind that the above range is the full base salary range for this role; hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical in order to allow for future salary growth.
