Manager, Global Payroll & Compliance

Squarespace is looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead our Payroll function and meet the needs of our growing company. You will work as part of our Finance and Accounting team and partner closely with Legal and People Operations.

The Payroll team builds compliant processes that ensure seamless support of our organization. As the next member of our team, your work will support this through the preparation, distribution, and reporting of our payroll.

You will report to our Chief Accounting Officer and can be based in our New York headquarters or remotely in an approved state.

You'll Get To...

• Responsible for accurate, timely and efficient payroll processing of a 1,500+ growing global workforce, this includes:
• Oversee payroll team to ensure payment of payroll processing for Semi Monthly and Monthly pay cycles, special transactions such as RSUs, retroactive pay, garnishment, student loans and other statutory deductions
• Reconcile W-2 forms to ensure accurate entry of all compensation transactions, and quarterly Federal and State returns and amendments
• Audit employee records in HRIS (Workday), in partnership with People Operations to ensure they are accurate and up-to-date
• Resolve all payroll discrepancies, process bi-weekly adjustments, and answer employee inquiries
• Prepare 401(k) audit, analysis and compliance filings
• Coordinate with Accounting team on month end close activities and analyze payroll and benefit amounts, monthly or semi-monthly, for unusual trends to ensure accurate payroll processing
• Be the main contact for all payroll auditing related matters including the accurate and timely preparation of all requests
• Identify opportunities to automate current processes and implement effective controls to promote efficiency and improve payroll processes
• Expert in Federal, State, and Local labor laws, payroll tax requirements, payroll regulations and industry changes that affect payroll operations

Who We're Looking For

• 10+ years of experience working in global, multi-state, private, and public companies
• Certified Payroll Professional certification (CPP)
• 3+ years of experience with payroll systems (Workday, ADP), as well as leading a Payroll function
• Experience driving change to streamline payroll processes and find efficiencies
• Advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency and ability to work with large data sets
• Experience processing end-to-end payroll at a small to mid sized organization
• Capability to handle confidential information
• A deep understanding of leading Payroll practices, legislation, and regulation

Cash Compensation Range: $114,500 - $201,250 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, qualifications and experience, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), all Squarespace employees are eligible to receive equity in the company as part of their total compensation.
