Job Summary:

Implements, operates, and supports cloud monitoring and observability solutions within the Azure ecosystem. Works with senior engineers and stakeholders to implement approved monitoring designs, configure Azure services, and maintain reliable visibility into cloud platforms and applications. Supports operational monitoring, alerting, and integration with enterprise service management tools.

Principal Responsibilities:

Implement, configure, and support Azure-native monitoring tools including Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and Alerts for assigned Azure resources and services.

Configure alerts, action groups, diagnostic settings, and data collection rules based on established standards and designs.

Assist with validating requirements and documenting monitoring configurations, alert logic, and operational procedures.

Support the integration of Azure monitoring data with ServiceNow for incident creation, enrichment, and tracking.

Monitor logs, metrics, and telemetry to identify performance, availability, and reliability issues and escalate as needed.

Troubleshoot and resolve Azure monitoring alerts and platform issues following established runbooks and procedures.

Assist in the development and maintenance of dashboards and reports using Azure Workbooks, Grafana, and Power BI.

Participate in monitoring improvements, migrations, and onboarding of new applications or subscriptions under guidance of senior team members.

Collaborate with Azure administrators, DevOps engineers, and ITOM teams to ensure monitoring coverage and data accuracy.

Maintain documentation for monitoring configurations, KQL queries, and standard operating procedures.

Maintain familiarity with other monitoring tools (NNM, SCOM, OMi, ThousandEyes) and follow established integration and support practices.

Participate in on-call or operational support rotations as required.

Job Level Specifications:

Working knowledge of Azure cloud services and monitoring concepts. Demonstrates the ability to implement, operate, and support Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights in a production environment.

Applies standard procedures and documented designs to solve common monitoring and observability issues.

Works independently on routine tasks and seeks guidance for complex or non-standard problems.

Collaborates with peers and senior engineers to support reliable monitoring coverage and operational visibility.

Work Experience:

Typically 3–5 years of relevant IT experience, with at least 1–2 years supporting Azure or cloud monitoring solutions.

Education and Certification(s):

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience providing comparable technical knowledge and skills.

Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

Solid contributor to monitoring operations and continuous improvement efforts.

Follows established standards, procedures, and architectural guidance.

Builds technical depth in Azure monitoring, alerting, and diagnostics.

Contributes to documentation quality, alert hygiene, and system reliability.
