About the role



Summary: 

The Child Mind Institute is recruiting a Mental Health Curriculum Development Specialist to join its School and Community Programs team in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Curriculum Development Specialist will be responsible for designing and developing of new content for SCP’s prevention-focused mental health skill-building to K-12 students as well as evaluating and making modifications to existing content.  To date, the School and Community Programs team has served over 1.9 million students, educators, caregivers, and mental health providers across the United States with effective school-based treatment, social-emotional skill-building, and professional training. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in a fast-growing and innovative program and will be able to contribute to a dynamic, collaborative team.

Reporting to the Senior Director of School and Community Programs, this is an exempt, full-time position based at our San Mateo office.

Responsibilities: 

  • Review and assess existing curricula, making recommendations for updates and improvements to meet industry standards and learner needs.

  • Produce creative and innovative learning content for mental health skill building, trauma treatment, DBT and behavior service interventions using various formats including digital, ensuring the application of contemporary learning and development practices.

  • Create facilitator guides, student materials, and associated slide decks for each lesson using curricular templates.

  • Review course feedback and evaluations to identify and make necessary changes.

  • Work both independently on specific curricular tasks and collaboratively with the professional training team on broader curriculum planning, decision-making, and execution.

  • Employ best practices in instructional design to create engaging and interactive learning experiences, incorporating multimedia elements and technology-based tools.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of curricula, collecting feedback from faculty and students, and making data-driven improvements.

  • Maintain awareness of best practices, emerging technologies, and new potentials in educational technology that may be adopted as new and emerging instructional media, technologies, pedagogies and practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the development and delivery of mental health and/or SEL curriculum;or equivalent combination.

  • Demonstrated experience in designing, writing and producing learning content in various modes including digital for a diverse group of children and adolescents.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to creating content that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of learning theories, instructional design and contemporary learning and development practices.

  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of mental health, learning disorders and mental health services.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop partnerships and strong working relationships with key stakeholders.

  • A commitment to evidence-based practice in mental health
