Overview

The Infection Preventionist conducts infection surveillance in the hospital by applying clinical expertise with precision to advance patient outcomes through surveillance, data analysis, reporting and performance improvement. The Infection Preventionist's goal is to minimize the morbidity, mortality, and economic burden associated with healthcare-associated infections (HAI) utilizing the annual hospital wide IPC program in serving our patients, visitors, and staff. The Infection Preventionist will utilize epidemiological principles in collecting and analyzing pertinent data to determine risk factors associated with infections, and will utilize guiding information to seek opportunities for improvement. The Infection Preventionist will serve as subject matter expert, educator, and a resource on infection prevention/control within CM and the community. Some of these services may also be provided while working remotely.

If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a resource for the education and consultation needs of the healthcare team.
  • Participates in organizational and departmental performance improvement activities.
  • Attends education programs, department meetings and assigned committees.
  • Initiates and/or participates in clinical research.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Health Science and 1-2 years experience Preferred experience in Infection Prevention & Control. Direct clinical surveillance experiences a plus.
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri, Licensed Respiratory Therapist MO required upon hire
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas, Licensed Respiratory Therapist KS required upon hire
  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control
  • One of the following: Registered Respiratory Therapist, Not Applicable required upon hire
  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • Employees must obtain Certification in Infection Prevention and Control or equivalent within 1095 days
  • Current Professional License (based on their discipline) in Missouri & Kansas. If working remotely outside of Missouri or Kansas, must also be licensed in the state in which they are working/living. OR Required Upon Hire
  • RNs who reside in Kansas hold a Kansas Multi-State (Compact) License If RN - Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications. Required Upon Hire
  • RNs who reside in Missouri hold a Missouri Multi-State (Compact) License If RN - Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications. OR Required Upon
