Job Summary:
Provides direct behavioral support to patients at risk of harm to self or others, due to a mental illness or inability to care for self, under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN) and leadership. Maintains proper supervision of patients in line of sight, as a room sitter, or one-on-one. Identifies behavior and statements that require intervention by the psychiatric staff.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Experience in direct patient supervision: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Preferred
Essential Functions:
- Monitors patients on involuntary holds initiated by law enforcement or court order and patients deemed a suicide risk, as determined by the provider.
- Monitors patients who need fall protection, are in a state of confusion and/or agitations and at risk of self-harm e.g., wandering.
- Monitors patients who are deemed at risk of hurting themselves by interference of therapeutic equipment.
- Assist patient with activities of daily living within their scope of practice. Monitors any changes in behavior and report the RN or provider.
- Follows safety protocols and infection control policies.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
