Matrix designs, manufactures, and sells innovative technological products that help keep people safe. Originally focused on the underground coal mining industry, Matrix has expanded into new industrial markets in the United States and globally.

We are currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative software development team. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance software solutions using .NET Framework, .NET Core, and React. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in software development, with expertise in building scalable and robust applications. This position works in a team environment at our home office in Newburgh, IN. This is not a remote position.

This position reports to the Software Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership:

o Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of software engineers.

o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable and efficient software solutions.

o Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies to ensure the continuous improvement of our development processes.

• Full-Stack Development:

o Architect, design, and develop robust and maintainable software solutions using .NET Framework, .NET Core, and React.

o Collaborate with front-end and back-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.

• Code Quality and Review:

o Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to coding standards, and proper documentation.

o Implement and enforce best practices for code versioning, continuous integration, and deployment.

• Problem Solving:

o Analyze and troubleshoot complex technical issues, proposing and implementing effective solutions.

o Drive root cause analysis for critical production issues and implement preventable measures.

• Collaboration:

o Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high quality software solutions.

o Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to the refinement of user stories and sprint planning.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.

• Strong proficiency in .NET Framework and .NET Core.

• Extensive experience in React and front-end technologies.

• Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices.

• Proficient with development tools such as Visual Studio, Git, and other relevant technologies.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.

• Proven experience in mentoring and providing guidance to junior developers.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

Working Conditions

• Daily Job duties will consist of office, lab, and desk work with occasional field testing required.

• Candidates may be required to work underground, but on an infrequent basis.

o While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near large moving machinery.

o Customer operations may contain airborne particles and allergens.

o Matrix employees are furnished and required to wear safety gear such as hard hats, steel toe shoes, reflective clothing, earplugs, and safety glasses.

• Occasional travel and ability to work various shifts as required by customer.

Physical Requirements

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, or crouch. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
