Pharmacist

Full-Time, Second Shift

Hospital Pharmacy I Lexington, KY

Department of Pharmacy Services of Baptist Health Lexington provides pharmaceutical services to patients across the continuum of care. These services include, but are not limited to verification of medication orders, drug distribution, sterile product preparation, hazardous drug preparation, and utilization of automated dispensing cabinets.

Description:

• Coordinates drug distribution in accordance with scope of practice, policies and procedures, gender and age of patient served.
• Interpret, review and fill all medication orders received during assigned shift before medication and label is sent for patient administration.
• Check for appropriate dose, allergies, therapeutic duplications and contraindications. Contacts nursing personnel and/or prescriber regarding any questions on drug orders.

• Keeps patient care the first priority.

• Will respond completely to drug-related questions.  This includes adequately researching the available resources to obtain the answer.

• Answers the telephone in a timely manner.  Is courteous and helpful and never abrasive.

Requirements:

• Pharm. D. with an ASHP residency preferred.
• Current Kentucky Pharmacist License.
