Research Assistant Scientist

PhD in Health Education & Behavior, Social Sciences or a related field with relevant research experience

Job Description:

Lead project planning, project financials, and day-to-day management of contract deliverables.

Coordinate day-to-day logistics for FL DOH-funded research project.

Recruit and retain participants; administer research and clinical assessments.

Manage enrollment and communication across numerous cycling clubs in Gainesville and across the state of Florida.

Lead software development team including communication between behavioral researchers and programmers to ensure timely delivery of technology components.

Collect, enter, and manage data; track project milestones; collect, manage, and report metrics of research success including grants, grant dollars, publications.

Supervise a research team composed of paid staff, Graduate Research Assistants, and undergraduate volunteers.

Assist with manuscript and report development.

Maintain in-depth knowledge of developments related to various projects and coordinate changes to the protocol, IRB documents, or procedures with the PI and/or departmental and college research administrators as indicated by UF policy.

Respond to all e-mails in a timely manner.

Ensure that study activities are implemented and completed within time frames to meet research objectives.

Assist in research intervention development.

Learn and teach project management software.

Contribute intellectually to manuscript preparation and project development, and contributing to training undergraduates in research skills.

Required Qualifications:

PhD in Health Education & Behavior, Social Sciences or a related field with relevant research experience

Preferred:

At least two years of relevant experience in human subject research; experience with project coordination (including supervision of research staff members), data management, and basic analysis techniques.

Experience with: research conducted in community and clinical settings, externally-funded projects, and IRB submission.

Experience with trials targeting physical activity behaviors and use of digital technologies. Experience with outdoor cycling will also be beneficial.

Experience communicating with computer science development teams.
