About the role
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage assigned purchasing areas to support efficient and cost-effective operations.
- Work directly with suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and delivery standards, adhering to purchasing policies.
- Monitor and manage multiple suppliers, negotiate prices, and analyze inventory trends.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and pricing.
- Place purchase orders, control inventory, and ensure appropriate stock levels.
- Arrange and track the transport of goods, collaborating with warehouse teams for expedited receiving.
- Assess stock quality, escalate discrepancies to suppliers and management.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, and supply chain teams, to align procurement activities with business objectives.
- Research and evaluate potential new sources of supply, on-boarding new suppliers as needed.
- Process requisitions and provide timely updates to management on order status.
- Identify opportunities to streamline procurement processes, improve efficiency, and enhance overall effectiveness.
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, finance, or related field.
- Advanced degree or professional certification (eg. CSCP, CPSM, CPIM) is a plus.
- 3-5 years' experience as a buyer, or production planner.
- Energy industry experience preferred.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to pass a drug screen & background check.
- Occasional domestic travel will be required.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office & ERP Systems, especially proficient in the use of Excel.
- Critical thinking and negotiation skills, experience in buying highly engineered products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent follow-up/follow-through and problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently under limited supervision.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to drive issues to closure and get job done in professional and compliant manner.
- Must be capable of managing multiple priorities and projects at the same time.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to meet or exceed standards as established by the department.
- Ability to adapt and be cross trained to learn all job duties.
