Job Overview
The Area Director of Revenue Management is responsible for driving the optimization of revenue, profitability, and market share across a portfolio of hotels, with a focus on both guest rooms and function space. This role provides strategic leadership in revenue management practices, ensuring alignment across demand forecasting, pricing, inventory control, and opportunity analysis.
The position collaborates closely with hotel leadership and Sage corporate teams to identify emerging market opportunities, guide sales and pricing strategies, and support overall commercial performance across transient, group, and catering segments.
Responsibilities
- Maximize revenue, profitability, and market share across assigned hotel portfolios, including both rooms and function space.
- Partner with General Managers and Sales Leaders to establish optimal business mix and pricing strategies based on market dynamics, ensuring alignment with annual budgets and business plans.
- Drive continuous improvement in revenue management practices by identifying innovative approaches and contributing strategic insight during planning and execution phases.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture through strong leadership, effective communication, and a lead-by-example approach that builds engagement and accountability.
- Conduct ongoing analysis of competitive sets, rate positioning, demand patterns, seasonality, and business mix to inform strategic decisions.
- Utilize all available revenue management tools to develop and execute effective selling strategies, including rate optimization, length-of-stay controls, arrival pattern management, and discount strategy recommendations.
- Oversee distribution strategy and performance across all channels, including CRS, GDS, ADS, and travel agency consortia, ensuring optimal visibility and production.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with OTA market managers to enhance positioning and performance across third-party platforms.
- Develop and maintain monthly room revenue forecasts with a target accuracy within ±5%.
- Support the development of the Annual Business Plan, providing strategic guidance on segmentation, pricing, seasonality, and revenue penetration goals.
- Lead or contribute to special projects, task forces, and cross-functional initiatives as required.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive divisional distribution strategy to maximize channel effectiveness and profitability.
- Provide leadership and oversight for direct reports, which may include Group Coordinators, Reservations Sales Agents, Inventory Managers, or Sales Reporting & Systems Analysts.
- Demonstrate agility and decisiveness—balancing data-driven decision-making with the ability to adapt strategies in response to evolving market conditions.

- May oversee and manage team members across assigned hotel properties, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and performance expectations.
Qualifications
Education/Formal Training
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in Revenue Management required.
- Multi-property experience preferred.
- Experience within independent/lifestyle hotel environments required.
