About the role

JOB PURPOSE: To maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen while being responsible for the preparation, cooking, and serving of the meal as directed by the approved menu.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Prepares daily meals in adherence to the approved menu.
  • Ensures food is hygienically stored and food storage areas are kept clean.
  • Maintains correct stock levels, ensures stock rotation, and ensures all stock is clearly labeled as required.
  • Always maintains a high standard of hygiene and safety through daily cleaning of areas and equipment.
  • Maintains the kitchen and kitchen equipment.
  • Ensures all utensils are washed properly.
  • Adheres to all Food and Nutrition Guidelines at local, state, and federal health guidelines during the preparation, cooking, and serving of all food.
  • Ensure waste materials are properly placed in designated waste (trash) areas.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with fellow staff and participants.
  • All other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience cooking.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work well with individuals of all cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Background check/drug screen.

SCHEDULE:
  • Full-time (35hrs/wk.).
  • Monday-Friday, 6am-1:30pm.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
