About the role

Description

Greater Nashua Mental Health is looking for a Client Benefits Coordinator to join our team! The Client Benefits Coordinator supervises the Client Benefit Specialists and Support Specialists and is responsible for the overall assessment and monitoring of client insurance eligibility and financial responsibility. Assists the benefits team, clients and GNMH providers in determining optimal medical financial assistance eligibility and guides facilitation of the relevant application process. Liaises with assigned clinical team members to review client accounts and coverage status on a regular basis. Assists benefits team and clients with submission of medical bills to the state in an effort to open Medicaid Spenddown accounts. This position is also responsible for the overall duties of a Benefit Specialist as needed.


Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Ensures proper Client Benefits Specialists and Support Specialists coverage by managing schedules and arranging for coverage during times of personnel shortage.
  • Provides guidance to Client Benefits Specialists and Support Specialists as to policies and procedures for all locations and facilitates and performs training when necessary.
  • Provides supervision to Client Benefits Specialists and Support Specialists by establishing performance goals and evaluates progress timely and consistently.
  • Serves as the secondary administrator for provider web portals and vendors; ensures associates have access to portal logins; resets passwords and accounts as necessary.
  • Keeps current with industry knowledge, including but not limited to healthcare payers, changing requirements such as covered services, or authorizations; Medicaid programs and annual verifications; attends training sessions as needed to maintain knowledge.
  • Collaborates with GNMH Quality Department and Training Coordinator to schedule and/or provide annual benefits related trainings to clinical staff.
  • Generate and distribute client insurance eligibility and authorizations report at least weekly to Client Benefit Specialist for completion.
  • Monitors client insurance trending reports of the Client Benefits Specialists and Support Specialists client lists monthly and provide feedback to the Director of Client Access.
  • Performs comment audits of Client Benefits Specialists and Support Specialists regularly and provide feedback to the Director of Client Access.
  • Establish and maintains positive working relationships with external resources.
  • Adheres to patient privacy policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Serves as back-up to Client Benefits Specialist and Support Specialists positions as needed.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by the Director of Client Access.
  • Collaborates with the Client Access Coordinator when necessary.

Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate’s Degree in Business, Management or related field is preferred
  • 1 to 2 years related work experience
  • Knowledgeable of current Local and State agencies and their available benefit programs.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Email, Word, EXCEL).
  • Projects a friendly, positive, and professional attitude both in person and on the phone.
  • Ability to effectively deal with all levels of customers in a professional manner, utilizing strong customer service, interpersonal and listening skills.
  • Understands and respects the needs of the clients served at GNMH and is able to meet with them to determine their specific areas of need in a comfortable and objective manner.
  • Financial acumen related to personal finance and budgeting.
  • Strong collaborating skills, and an ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective oral/written communication skills necessary to clarify benefit details, requirements, and processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive.
  • Ability to multitask, and be flexible with regard to workload and assignments.
  • Ability to problem solve and exercise judgment.
