TITLE: Associate Director, Financial Institutions U.S., Corporate & Investment Banking
DUTIES: The Bank of Nova Scotia seeks Associate Director, Financial Institutions U.S., Corporate & Investment Banking in New York, NY to deepen client relationships by leveraging broader Bank relationships, systems, industry and product knowledge. Evaluate and analyze the financial needs of corporate clients. Drive non-lending product cross-sell by effectively connecting product partners with clients and prospect companies. Create marketing materials, presentations and pitch books in coordination with other teams, including investment banking. Lead transaction structuring and execution efforts, including detailed credit analysis and customer due diligence. Prepare credit presentation with recommendations for submission to global risk management for adjudication. Identify and develop business opportunities with existing clients and prospect companies to grow the US Financial Institutions franchise. Maintain responsibility for day-to-day management of existing clients such as annual reviews, compliance reporting, and new credit requests. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. Play a key role in training and developing Analysts and Associates.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field of study and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience: structuring deals and reviewing legal documentation for effective and timely execution of credit transactions; utilizing financial industry knowledge including the types of sub-segments, key players, and key characteristics and trends required for effective marketing and prospecting efforts to grow the financial institution’s franchise; utilizing credit analysis to conduct effective due diligence of prospect companies and existing clients to determine their financial health and ensure they align with the bank’s strategy and accepted credit profile; pitching to prospect companies and existing clients to broaden relationships, cross-sell and grow revenues through knowledge of non-retail financial products such as loans, letters of credit/guarantees, debt capital markets, investment banking, derivatives and cash management products; ensuring clients onboarded are in compliance with specific regulations by jurisdiction using Know-your-customer and Anti-Money Laundering. 40% travel required, both domestic and international. The offered salary is between $185,000 and $185,000 per year, 40 hours per week. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies. When not telecommuting, must report to work site.
