We are currently seeking a Materials Transition Specialist to join our Manufacturing Division.

 

What will the work look like for me?

  • Reducing excess material by developing plans and leading projects to consume current excess and prevent new excess material year over year.
  • Consumption- 30-50% of your work responsibilities:
    • Review and analyze excess and near excess material.
    • Collaborate with design, program management, and product management.
    • Facilitate projects with teams to determine an effective way to consume, sell or dispose.
  • Prevention- 50-70% of your work responsibilities:
    • Improve current documented process.
    • Plan and drive engineering changes from initial change request through execution and full manufacturing/distribution channel implementation.
    • Lead the engineering change cross functional team in communicating and tracking defined deliverables.
    • Work closely with technical SME (subject matter expert) to ensure all tasks are identified and planned appropriately.
    • Assess the impact (cost, excess, timing) of change requests.
    • Schedule regular meetings to ensure all cross functional team members critical to the project/change are kept informed and complete necessary actions as assigned.
    • Analyze demand and supply to set transition timeframes.
    • Review and update effectives dates to ensure the right material is being driven at the right time.
    • Implement ongoing coordination of the right part, right time, right quantity through standard work.
  • Participate in team and individual problem-solving activities.
  • Other tasks assigned as needed to fulfill customer demand and continuously improve.

Where is this opportunity located? 

This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota, with work primarily conducted onsite. Remote work may be considered for candidates with a home-based office located within a reasonable commuting distance.

Qualifications

To be considered for our Materials Transition Specialist position we require the following:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Economics, Operations Management, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong computer skills to include but not limited to Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience with Glovia, and Windchill software preferred.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of manufacturing and engineering employees in a positive professional manner.
  • Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
