Job Description:
The Advancement unit within Iowa State University Extension and Outreach seeks qualified candidates for a Marketing Specialist position. The Marketing Specialist is part of the core team of marketing specialists, writers, designers, video producers, and digital strategists who support projects and initiatives to advance the ISU Extension and Outreach mission and brand. This field-based position will serve as a marketing communications liaison to county extension staff members in approximately 27 counties in the western portion of the state (Regions 1, 2, 6, 7, 13, 21, and 22). The selected individual will work closely with other field-based Marketing Specialists as well as the campus-based Advancement team, organizational leadership, and county office-based staff and leaders.
The Marketing Specialist will provide marketing communications guidance and support to county staff, leaders, and regional leaders in marketing, branding, media relations, events, and internal and external communications. They will serve as a link between supported counties and campus, building collaborative relationships and providing brand orientations and coaching to staff at all levels. Depending on the unique skills and abilities of the individual in this role, there may also be opportunities to lead or contribute to special projects within counties or for broader extension initiatives. This includes anything from media campaigns to internal events to developing resources or training to address emerging needs across the state.
The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, the ability to work as part of a creative communications team, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
The position will be hired as a Marketing Specialist I or II level.

Marketing Specialist II
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience

• Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
• Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
• Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests
• May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff
• May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
• Provides guidance to students
