Position Overview and Responsibilities:
This position serves as the administrative operations specialist for the Chemistry Program. The incumbent is responsible for supporting all aspects of the laboratory’s chemical equipment and supply systems and contract management; uses knowledge of laboratory operating procedures and inventory control systems to initiate orders for appropriate materials; coordinates with the Department’s Purchasing Office and uses purchasing software systems to order and track purchase orders; initiates and tracks the status of Purchasing Card (P-Card) expenditures; reconciles the receipt of goods and services with purchase requests and orders; records and inventories received goods as necessary; maintains the inventory of the stock room to ensure integrity.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge administrative principles and practices.
- Knowledge of office procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of laboratory software systems for inventory control.
- Knowledge of laboratory operations management for laboratory supply and inventory control systems.
- Knowledge of the state purchasing system (My Florida Market Place), rules and requirements.
- Knowledge of software packages for the generation of documents; spreadsheets and information management (specifically MS Excel, MS Word, Adobe Acrobat Professional).
- Ability to understand terminology used in the Chemistry program.
- Ability to prepare management and technical reports.
- Ability to use computers and related hardware.
- Ability to understand and follow policy direction and rules applicable to purchasing and administrative requirements.
- Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and travel.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least four years of verifiable related experience. Post-secondary degrees may be used as an alternative for the required years of experience on a year-for-year basis. A credential evaluation report from an approved agency must be submitted along with all foreign degrees. Valid State of Florida Driver’s License. Occasional day travel.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Skill in using the state purchasing system, My Florida Market Place (MFMP)
- Florida Certified Contract Manager (FCCM)
