Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking a visionary Senior Director of Transplant Operations to lead and expand its nationally recognized Abdominal Transplant Program
The Senior Director of Transplant leads and coordinates key strategic development and functional services to support department and organizational objectives and goals including overall responsibility for program finances/revenue cycle. Creates a management structure that ensures leadership of the transplant professional and support team including day-to-day supervision, team member relations and development. In conjunction with program physician leadership, responsible for the development, coordination and evaluation of transplant clinical program operations, regulatory compliance, nursing care and education for transplant and related clinical programs and departments.
Sr Director, Transplant Operations Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with Hospital and Service Line Leadership to develop and implement program strategic goals and comprehensive performance objectives. Drives execution of action plans for on-time goal achievement/results.
- Ensures highly effective TM leadership and support including recruitment and retention, performance development and assessment, multidisciplinary team member engagement, TM communication, support and management, as evidenced by turnover rate, engagement, and patient satisfaction metric.
- Ensures highly effective program operations including a robust quality assessment and performance improvement program with focus on data-driven initiatives to improve the quality of care and patient and graft survival metrics
- Collaborates with Program physician leadership for administrative management of Transplant providers to include recruitment, onboarding, retention and other practice support.
- Supports service line provider performance assessment including bonus criteria and compensation model evaluation.
- Ensures Transplant Program Regulatory compliance including UNOS, CMS and Joint Commission standards compliance Manages communication and follow-up with CMS and UNOS for any survey-related requirements for improvement or other requirements.
- OPO to transplant hospital liaison for OPO Memorandum of Understanding including the provision of EMR access, MOU revisions, notifications, and disaster preparedness.
- Serves as organ transplant subject matter expert regarding transplant program administration, regulatory requirements, reimbursement, and clinical operations.
- Collaborates with Managed Care for transplant contract development and maintenance including payment rate assessment, and scope determination
- Collaborates with Medicare Reimbursement team to ensure transplant Medicare reimbursement is maximized including effective time study and charge review processes
- Promotes academic advancement within the Transplant Program through support of research, TM certification and education as evidenced by certification rates, and academic/research productivity. Active involvement in Transplant specific committees, Magnet initiatives, practice councils and educational programs. Encourages research activities and provides local and national presentations in areas of expertise.
Sr Director, Transplant Operations Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
Education - Bachelors Degree in Nursing
Experience - 8 years nursing, 4 years of progressive nursing director or management experience
Licensure - Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse
Preferred Requirements:
Demonstrated success in strategically growing a transplant program, including expanding clinical services, increasing transplant volume, enhancing referral networks, and improving patient outcomes through data-driven initiatives and stakeholder engagement.
Experience working in highly matrixed organzation
