Position Summary

This position provides advanced analytical support, strategic planning, and project management for the Academic Initiatives department. Responsibilities include SAS programming, collaboration with internal and external teams, and accountability for operational effectiveness and efficiency to support Dallas College’s mission and goals.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to independently drive operational success within the Academic Initiatives department in alignment with Dallas College’s mission. 

  • Skilled in applying quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze data supporting key academic initiatives. 

  • Capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to new policies, technologies, and methodologies. 

  • Strategic thinker with expertise in predictive modeling, data visualization, and effective communication. 

  • Proven ability to work successfully with diverse communities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field with emphasis on data visualization, SAS programming, research design, and advanced analytics. 

  • Official transcripts required. 

  • Flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods, including nights and weekends. 

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with SAS, SQL, Power BI, Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Power Automate, Power Apps, Access, PowerPoint), and SharePoint. 

Other Preferred Qualifications for Role (not mandatory, but advantageous)

  • Preferred: Experience with Workday, Ad Astra Scheduling, Boomi, Edify (EAB), and higher education environments. 

  • Strongly prefer: SAS certification, experience with R or Python, and use of SAS Enterprise Guide, Miner, and Visual Analytics. 

  • Bilingual preferred. 

  • School/Education Transcripts

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as a business analytics analyst, SAS programmer, and report developer for Academic Initiatives. 

  • Collaborate with internal teams to establish quality control databases that enhance data accuracy. 

  • Identify and resolve data issues promptly. 

  • Develop and maintain ad-hoc and recurring reports. 

  • Provide strategic data support and research for the Academic Services division. 

  • Collect and analyze complex data sets to inform academic initiatives and decision-making. 

  • Consult with stakeholders to design metrics, dashboards, predictive models, and reports. 

  • Deliver executive summaries and visualizations to communicate insights to leadership. 

  • Train stakeholders on data interpretation and analytical techniques. 

  • Partner with leadership to improve organizational processes and outcomes. 

  • Manage multiple projects with shifting priorities and deadlines.
