Be You. Duke Recreation and Physical Education is seeking individuals to become a part of our Recreation Center Guest Services Attendant and Facility Monitor staff. It is our mission to build awareness and leadership around anti-racism by generating transformative conversations, tangible changes, and experiences through assessment, intentional actions, and holding our community accountable.     Visit us at recreation.duke.edu to find out more about our facilities, programs, and team.     Minimum Requirements: ·        High School Diploma or GED equivalency ·        Must be able to use a computer ·        At least 1 full year customer service experience or working with the public ·        Certification in First-Aid, CPR/AED or willingness to obtain within 60 days ·        Must be able to attend and participate in off hour training sessions (usually about 2 per semester)   ·        Ability to interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations ·        Ability to use independent judgment when needed ·        Strong problem‐solving skills ·        Must be able to accommodate a variable work schedule that may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays. ·        Must be available to work evenings and weekends   Be Bold.   Position Description:   Guest Services Attendant ·        Serve as the first link to the recreation centers, is responsible for greeting members and guests upon arrival as well as acknowledge their departure. ·        Check all members, guests and visitors in and out of the facilities. ·        Monitor flow of traffic into and out of the facility. ·        Ensure Duke ID cards and guest passes are current and valid to access the facilities. ·        Answer any questions or concerns users have. If you are unable to answer question, refer them to the appropriate Recreation & Physical Education staff personnel or department. ·        Follow procedures to register guests and visitors. ·        Supervise electronic waivers for all guests and visitors. ·        Arrange and maintain the Lost & Found cabinet in an orderly and organized manner at all times. ·        Confirm the on-line daily schedule for indoor/outdoor reservations. ·        Complete all forms as necessary. ·        Check out loan equipment and ensure equipment is returned and does not leave the facility. ·        Promote a safe and clean facility that is welcoming to all. ·        Perform other duties as assigned. ·        Support and help progress the university and department’s commitment to anti-racism and diversity, equity, and inclusion.   ·        Uphold the university policies on anti-racism and discrimination: https://anti-racism.duke.edu/commitments/and https://oie.duke.edu/.

Weight Room Attendant (Wilson Only)

·        Manage access into and out of the weight room space- members must have valid Duke ID Card and Facility Membership.   ·         Responsible for ensuring that each member working out in the weight room is using machines properly, and in safe manner.   ·         Communicate all posted weight room rules and guidelines.   ·         Enforce  re-racking weight policy. When members are using free weights, please make sure that all weights are returned to their proper location.   ·         Maintain clean work area by cleaning weight room equipment and equipment at the front desk.     Facility Monitor ·        Fill in for the front desk and weight room staff when needed. ·        Consistently move around the facility to check all doors, alarms, lockerrooms, and bathrooms. ·        Address the cleanliness of the cardio areas and machines. ·        Track and enforce day locker policies (includin glocker rooms). ·        Enforce all facility policies and procedures. ·        Assist the front desk staff during busy check-in times. ·        Follow all opening and closing procedures. ·        Carry out security measures. ·        Respond to all building emergencies (Accidents/Injuries, Inclement Weather, etc.) ·        Execute the set‐up of activity areas for variety of internal & external groups when needed. ·        Provide support for special events, as needed. ·        Ensure outstanding customer service. ·        Work cooperatively with other area of the department to achieve established goals. ·        Promote a safe, clean, functional facility that is welcoming to all. ·        Perform other work as assigned. ·        Support and help progress the university and department’s commitment to anti-ra cism and diversity, equity, and inclusion.   ·
