The Executive Assistant provides high-level administrative and governance support to the Executive Director and Board of Directors. This role ensures effective board operations, executive coordination, and compliance with Maryland Nonprofits Standards of Excellence while supporting an organization committed to person-centered, inclusive services.
Position Responsibilities
Executive Director Support
Manage the Executive Director’s calendar, meetings, correspondence, and priorities.
Prepare and edit executive communications, reports, and presentations.
Track action items, deadlines, and follow-up related to strategy, compliance, and organizational initiatives.
Coordinate logistics for executive meetings and events, ensuring accessibility.
Board & Governance Support
Serve as primary staff liaison to the Board of Directors and committees.
Coordinate board and committee meetings, including scheduling, agendas, packets, minutes, and follow-up.
Maintain governance records, including bylaws, policies, committee materials, and board rosters.
Track board terms, elections, attendance, and required disclosures.
Support board recruitment, onboarding, evaluations, and training.
Standards of Excellence & Compliance
Support compliance with Maryland Nonprofits Standards of Excellence and nonprofit governance best practices.
Assist with audits, funder reviews, policy tracking, and governance documentation.
Communication & Administration
Facilitate professional, inclusive communication among board members, executive leadership, and staff.
Maintain confidentiality and organized records.
Support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
3–5 years of executive or senior administrative experience; nonprofit or human services preferred.
Experience supporting a board of directors.
Strong organizational, communication, and minute-taking skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace and virtual meeting platforms.
Knowledge of disability services, accessibility practices, or Standards of Excellence preferred.
