PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Reporting to the Manager of Accounting (Manager), the Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and all subsidiary ledgers, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and inventory for Carter BloodCare (CBC) and the Carter BloodCare Foundation. This position requires the use of discretion, independent judgment, and requires a high level of confidentiality.

Regular, full-time attendance is required during normal working hours.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, required

EXPERIENCE

  • 1 - 2 years of previous experience in an automated accounting environment, working with a general ledger, as well as subsidiary ledgers, preferred

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of general ledger accounting
  • Experience with an integrated accounting system (Sage100, preferred)
  • Experience working with budgeting software and payroll software
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), required
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate accounting issues, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Basic mathematical skills, to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, to prepare reports and understand/report trends, required
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills, required
  • Ability to work with other departments within CBC and with external auditors, vendors, etc.
  • Detail-oriented team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple individuals
  • Ability to write and prepare routine reports, correspondence, graphs, and charts, independently
  • Handles multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritizes tasks to meet aggressive deadlines
